We are currently accepting applications for a Project Manager to join our growing Project Management Office (PMO) team. Project Managers are responsible for directing a matrixed team of subject matter experts, programmers, business analysts and vendor staff; handling business analysis/requirements gathering; and overseeing project development and delivery. Candidates must have a successful track record of managing large full-scale projects (enterprise wide) for insurance, banking, or financial services companies. Applicants must also have the ability to manage client, vendor, and stakeholder relationships. The professional candidate will focus on understanding the business needs and how the proposed solutions meet those requirements; manage projects from start to finish including development and delivery of Project Charters, and/or Statements of Work (SOWs), project schedules, risk identification and mitigation plans; and work closely with and meet expectations of Senior Management, business unit managers and IT infrastructure resources. Additional requirements for this opportunity include: a commitment to customer service; excellent interpersonal skills; proven project management skills; team organization and building skills, a strong background or knowledge of the information technology market; strong foundation in PMBOK and SDLC methodologies and proven experience delivering projects utilizing these principles and techniques; and excellent oral and written communications.

Essential Job Functions/Behaviors:

  • Solid experience in strategic application of technology to the evolution of the business (products, services, efficiencies, etc.), including front end activities such as business process improvement business process mapping, logical systems design, object oriented design, etc.

  • Monitors and holds project resources accountable for meeting performance metrics

  • Adheres to project management methodology (PMBOK, SDLC, CMM, ITIL, RUP) by leveraging and promoting the use of existing tools, capturing best practices, and identifying areas for improvement

 

  • Conducts project checkpoints and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements

Required Skills

Education/Experience:

  • Degree in the field of Information Technology, management, business administration, or equivalent work experience

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of PMI/PMBOK and SDLC processes and standards (a PMP certification through PMI is preferred)

 

  • At least 5-7 years of experience managing and delivering full lifecycle technology solutions

 

  • Direct work experience in a project management capacity working with I.T. software
    development projects including all aspects of process development and execution

 

  • Significant project management experience (i.e., managing multiple projects, managing large complex projects)

 

  • Technically competent with various software programs including MS Office 2003, MS Project 2003, MS Visio 2003 Standard/Professional, and Adobe Acrobat

 

  • Competent and proficient understanding of various platforms, such as MS Windows XP, Linux, AIX, Solaris

 

  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, FTP, Firewalls and other security tools, browser-based applications, smart clients, etc.
